Individual registration for spring workshops is now open - Register Now!
For kids who can't get enough of horses, Horse Workshops are a great opportunity to get hands-on horse time and build riding skills and horsey knowledge. Camp Sealth offers group and individual sign-up options.
Each workshop is 6 hours long, including a small-group riding lesson, ground lesson or horse games, grooming, saddling, feeding, and barn chores. Geared toward beginner and intermediate riders, campers gain more independence and confidence and horseback and gain more knowledge about horses. The actual riding time for each participant is about 1.5 to 2 hours.
The cost for an individual registration is $75 per person per day, and includes transportation to and from ferry terminals. The cost for a group registration varies based on group size (see Groups information below).
Camp Sealth provides trained riding instructors and the program is overseen by a CHA-certified instructor. All instructors are at least 18 years old with extensive riding experience and at least two weeks of job training. Sealth meets all horse program requirements from the American Camp Association, and has a high standard of safety for horse program participants. We maintain a 1:4 staff to participant ratio or better, with at least two staff present at all times.
Sealth's horses are provided by Miller-Blue, who has been leasing horses to camps for many years. The horses are calm and friendly, and great at working with kids.
The group option is perfect for Camp Fire groups, or Girl Scout or Boy Scout troops, birthday parties, families or more! We can tailor the entire day to meet your group's needs - team-building, camp activities, riding & horsey skills, and lots more.
Group registration for Spring 2012 is still available, but dates are limited to weekdays (teacher workshops days or Spring Break). Group size can be between 4 and 15 participants plus adult chaperones. Click here for prices and more details.
Advanced riders in 8th grade and above can sign up to attend as Junior Riding Staff. You'll get the opportunity to assist and teach beginner riders, and have some time to ride and develop your own skills. Junior Riding Staff help with riding and ground lessons in the morning and early afternoon, then stay later for their own riding lesson. This is a great opportunity for teens interested in doing the Riding-Staff-In-Training program during the summer (entering grades 10+).
